Aldo AGUIRRE Camacho is a Cuban-born violinist.
He started his formal music training at the age of seven,
at the school of music in his home town of Santa Clara. After
turning fifteen, Aldo moved to Havana to attend the National
School of Music and later pursued his university studies at
the Superior Art Institute. During this period Aldo was selected
to join the Latin American Symphony Youth Orchestra, based
in Venezuela, conducted by Maestro Claudio Abbado. In addition,
Aldo participated in tours throughout Spain, Colombia and
Canada as a member of "Musica Eterna", the premier
string chamber ensemble from the Superior Art Institute.
However, Aldo's musical work goes beyond the classical world
as he meets the challenge to perform popular styles of violin.
He was ntroduced to cuban popular music very early in life
by his father, and then to Jazz, Latin and Afro rhythms while
studying in Havana.
As a member of the Alberta-based band "Bomba" he
has performed in Jazz Festivals
throughout Canada.
Currently, Aldo resides in Edmonton and attends the
University of Alberta.
